Recently, we told you the story of badminton competitor Emona Ivanova and her dream to qualify for the Paralympic Games this year. Our sports talent is intensively preparing for upcoming tournaments, and we continue to support her.
Soon, the Bulgarian athlete and her coach will depart for another important competition in the city of Vitoria, Spain, which will take place between April 15th and 21st. The tournament will feature competitors from 30 countries, distributed across 22 categories. Our Olympic hope will participate in this tournament for the second year in a row, having returned with a bronze medal in the women’s doubles category in 2023. The Bulgarian athlete is in excellent form and is determined to seize every opportunity to achieve her goal.
To be among the torchbearers of the Olympic flame
The 2024 Paris Games will be exciting for yet another reason. Emona has received an invitation to participate in the ceremony for the relay and lighting of the Olympic flame. This recognition is exceptional and proves that a person is as great as their dreams. Among the invitees are world champions in various sports, celebrities, and talents, with their total number reaching 11,000. Traditionally, the flame will be lit on April 16th in Greece, the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games. After an 11-day relay, the flame will arrive by water in Marseille, France, where Emona will join the relay.
This year, the Olympics will take place between July 26th and August 11th. Shortly after, from August 28th to September 8th, the Paralympic Games will be held. Their opening promises to be spectacular because for the first time in Games history, the ceremony will take place outside the sports facilities and will be in the heart of Paris – at Place de la Concorde and Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
Emona Ivanova continues confidently on her path to achieving her big dream of participating in the Paralympic Games, and we eagerly await to see her achievements. Her discipline and perseverance serve as an example for many people in disadvantaged positions, and her successes delight us all.
